I’ve noticed these monthly playlists tend to be my Carrie Bradshaw-esk wrap ups . . .
I’M A CHILD OF THE MILLENNIUM.
(excuse me, Willenium.)
. . . and this is all I know.
What a difference a year makes.
Summer 2015 was the exact opposite to what my Summer 2016 was.
Last summer I was falling in love, running around Brooklyn with my best friend, writing about music for a great website and life was . . . fun. This year I’m so far out of love it’s insane, constantly filled with anxiety about the future, unable to see my best friends or have carefree adventures and barely getting one WAXY article out a month.
I DON’T LIKE IT.
but, I do like this jennylee song.
Life is messy. It’s not the fun type of Laguna Beach drama messy. It’s the financialy-uncertain-what-do-I-want-to-do-with-my-life-how-do-I-make-friends-as-an-adult-should-I-be-the-millennial-piece-of-shit-that-I-am-and-quit-my-job-to-be-a-graphic-designer type of messy and there is no real solution to any of the uncertainty or messiness. Moving forward and coping are the strongest bullets in anyone’s belt, that’s it. It’s all jumping in and making the best of it -which completely sucks. Especially when you’re the person that likes to firmly see the ground before you jump, like I do.
So this month I’ve just been trying to move forward and cope with life. The music that I surrounded myself was light and fun . . . deff no Leonard Cohen this month. Femme is crazy fun and I really enjoyed her album, Debutante.
Enjoy this month’s playlist, Janes!
